Medical College, Patiala, is the second oldest medical college in the
state of Punjab, in India. It was founded in October 1953
by Patiala and East Punjab States Union government.With its attached
900 bed Rajindra hospital + 121 bed TB hospital is one of the largest health
institutions in the region.The college was started by the PEPSU Government in
October 1953. Attached to it is Dept. Of Pulmonary Medicine established in
Padamshree Khushdeva Singh Chest & TB Hospital near Lahori Gate , just a
stone throw distance from Bus Stand & Railway Station , having huge inflow
of patients from various districts like sangrur , ludhiana and other
states This institute is a reputed hospital of north India receiving
patients from all of Rajasthan, M.P., Haryana, U.P. & Delhi, who are
getting services of super specialist at the institute.
Dept of Pulmonary medicine is going leaps and bounds under able guidance of Prof cum DMS Dr.AP Kansal.With 121 beds and recently started R.I.C.U it is handling hundreds of patients daily in systematic and kind manner.
Pulmonary Medicine as a super-speciality of Medicine at par with sister specialities such as Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology and others. Considering the specialised nature of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures required for management of respiratory diseases and an intimate relationship with other medical specialities.Hospital for Chest Disease and Tuberculosis is a premier institute of state catering specialist services to persons suffering from respiratory ailments.The Institute provides treatment of tuberculosis as well as non tubercular respiratory diseases in a separate respiratory disease wing and ICU.
